Keep your PureAir 3000 Running at Peak Performance

If you have a pureAir 3000 air purifier, you know how effective it is at cleaning and sanitizing the air and surfaces in your home or office. The pureAir 3000 uses four advanced technologies to eliminate odors, smoke, pollen, dust, bacteria, mold, pet dander, viruses, and more from spaces up to 3000 square feet. But did you know that you need to replace the purification plate periodically to keep your air purifier running at its peak performance level?

What is the purification plate?

The purification plate is a 4"x4" ceramic plate that contains a wire mesh coated with a catalyst. The catalyst reacts with ultraviolet light to produce vaporized hydrogen peroxide and other advanced oxidation products (AOPs) that destroy contaminants in the air and on surfaces. The purification plate is located inside the pureAir 3000 unit and can be easily removed and reinstalled.

How to clean the purification plate?

The purification plate should be cleaned every month or more often if you notice a decrease in performance. To clean the purification plate, follow these steps:

- Turn off and unplug the pureAir 3000 unit.
- Remove the back cover of the unit and take out the purification plate.
- Soak the purification plate in white vinegar or a solution of equal parts warm water and clear ammonia for 8-10 hours but do not exceed 12 hours.
- Use a soft-bristle brush to gently scrub the wire mesh to remove any debris.
- Rinse the purification plate thoroughly with water and let it dry completely before reinstalling it.
- Use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to wipe the contacts on the interior of the unit that touch the purification plate.
- Replace the back cover of the unit and plug it back in.

How to tell if the purification plate is working?

When the pureAir 3000 unit is on, you should be able to smell a faint ozone-like (or chlorine -like) odor when the unit is set on Purification or ARC mode. This indicates that the purification plate is producing AOPs that are cleaning your air and surfaces. If you do not smell anything, it may mean that the purification plate is dirty or damaged and needs to be cleaned or replaced.
